So last weekend we went to our land. It had snowed a little and some of it was still on the ground. We had a blast building a snowman with the kids and they loved it too.
We’ve had our moments of thinking the land we bought might be way too small (not that we had many choices to pick from 😉 ). I thought the backyard would be tiny and I had times when I stood in front of it, doubted all the math we did with calculating out how big the yard would be and thought “a living room won’t even fit on this”.
So last weekend when we were there Chris mentioned that it might just look so small because there is absolutely no point of reference there for your eyes.
To make sure there was one we made the kids walk all the way to the edge of our land (the blue stick sticking out of the ground). And – tadaaaa! – it looked SO MUCH BIGGER!
Pretty impressive!
Sadly we also found a (hopefully little) glitch with our land. We hadn’t noticed it before, but on our side of the land the neighbors have some kind of wall that seems to have been from a building once, might also have been a fence or something. Either way it has to go, because it’s in our yard 😉 It’s not very tall, maybe 30cm so hopefully the excavator will be able to get rid of it pretty easily.
SInce my last blog post we have also been very busy. I won’t bore you with the details cause it’s mostly just paperwork, paperwork and more paperwork. We have to make sure to get it all together for the house company before the architect shows up (it’s stuff like where exactly are the water pipes, where are the underground electrical wires, etc.) We did what we could and are now just waiting on the different departments to do their job and send us the paperwork.
We also spend an entire Saturday (thank to my mom for babysitting!) and checked out different bathrooms, hardwood floors and tiles at IKEA, Bauhaus and Hagebau. ProHaus does have all of that included in the price, but if we don’t take theirs we get money back and can buy something we like better/is cheaper somewhere else. So we looked at stuff, wrote down prices, etc.
We think we will still take most tiles and hardwood floors from ProHaus, but actually fell in love with the IKEA bathrooms for our master bathroom, kids bathroom and guest bathroom. It all had pretty good prices so we are thinking about taking those. First though we’ll see what ProHaus has to offer 😉
It was good to do all of this without the kids, I am sure they would have been bored. It was also good to get it out of the way, I now have a list to take with to ProHaus and compare their prices to the ones from the other places.
For next weekend we have “exploring” planned. Checking out the new neighborhood, shopping possibilities etc. should be fun.
We already know of two bakeries in our new town but can’t wait to explore more!
Here are some pictures of the kids having fun building a snowman and also some of the frozen swimming lake. Check out Lillian and Lavinia in the very first picture all the way in back at the blue stick. That’s where or land ends. Not all that small 😉
