DIY dog fence

I am aware of the fact that I haven’t posted anything in a little over 3 month. This is due to the fact that we are having some trouble with the building company (simply put they just breached contract and stopped working) and the lawyers are currently fighting with each other. Don’t worry, we are in the right, it will just take a while to get stuff figured out. I will do a detailed post about it once it’s all over and I can talk about it.

For now, we are doing what we can to enjoy the half finished house and not think about the fact that we should already be living in it.

So let me tell  you about our DIY fence we built yesterday.
At one point, when the house is done and the yard is done,… our fence will look like this:
a b
Typical White Picket Fence if you will. However since I refuse to have it out of wood (just THINK about all the times you will have to paint it and clean it,…. over the years,…  yeah I think I’m good), ours will be made out of synthetic material. You basically hose it of, done.
Downside to that is the price. With how much yard we have we are looking at somewhere between 5 and 7k, something that will just have to wait a while.  In the meantime we thought it would be slightly annoying to work inside the the house, constantly worrying about the kids running on the street or the dog running over to the neighbors (2 of which have dogs as well). So we thought it would be nice to at least fence the back yard off. (Later, with the permanent fence, the entire land will be fenced off all around the house, but for now this will do). So we bought some really cheep but new fence (under $40) on ebay and just used all the scrap wood laying around for poles. I will tell you right now, the fence is not a beauty, however it does the job and keeps the kids and the dog where they should be.
The weather is currently pretty awesome and today, for the first time we could actually let Loki run around without a leash. He was loving it and we spent all day at the yard. Totally worth the $40 total (fence and cable ties to attach it). Looking forward to many more weekends spend there, even once we are moving in. Will be a while till the yard is done and the real fence gets here, but at least now, we can all relax together.

Soon he’ll roam free 😉

I actually fear they’ll be upset once we start putting furniture in 😉

That’s all for now. Keep your fingers crossed for us, I really just want to move in at this point.
