We finally got the invitation to go to Nordhorn to pick out all the stuff for the inside of our house. How exciting. Finally, after all the paperwork and paperwork and more paperwork, it seems like we actually get to do something that’s fun!
The whole thing will take two days. On the first day we are planing the entire electric stuff (where do we want the light switches, where do we want outlets, etc., etc.). I thought this was easy enough, but they said it would take about 9 hours. They included our first and second floor and asked us to draw in where we would like everything. And it turned out to be quite a bit harder than expected (not for the tiny rooms, but the living room / kitchen / dining area is really tough to do. The light switches are a pain. You don’t always want all the light on, but you want to be able to turn all of them on/off from every part of the room. It’s though.
On the second day we get to pick out flooring, tiles, doors, windows, heating, water softener and all other things we need. The good thing about ProHaus is that whatever you DON’T take, you get money back for. For example, we are not going to take any of their sinks for the bathrooms, since we like the IKEA ones a lot. So we get money back. Which is great, cause the IKEA ones are quite a bit cheaper then what we are getting back.
We will take their bathtub though, and probably most of the other stuff as well, depending on how we like it.
ProHaus is even paying for two nights at a fancy Spa-Hotel 🙂
Sadly, Nordhorn is a 7 hour drive from here so we had to book 2 extra nights. I wasn’t going to drive home after a long day of picking out things and I also wanted to make sure we get there a day early just to look at the things they offer. I know I can’t decide on things very easily so I figured it would be best if Chris and I had a day before the actual appointment to just check out there stuff and talk about what we like without the pressure of having to decide on the spot.
So now, we have to figure out the electronic stuff, go there in a couple of weeks to pick everything and THEN it’s finally time to call the construction workers!
