Checking for foundation

Today we went to check on the two walls on our land that need to go. One of them is right on the sidewalk where our drive way is going to be. The problem with that one is that it’s actually three pieces. A red brick wall, a cement wall and a pole. The pole belongs to the neighbors, but about 5 cm of the pole are still on our side. So that will be annoying to get rid of.

The other wall is right next to the neighbors garage (which is standing on our border). We obviously will get rid of this one too but wanted to make sure there is no foundation and it’s not built together with the neighbors garage. I really don’t want to tell the workers to just rip out the wall only to realize it was built together and the entire garage comes falling down with it 😉

So the kids dressed up in their building outfits and set out with Chris to dig a huge hole next to the wall to see if we could reach a foundation. Chris did some serious digging but we couldn’t find anything, so hopefully there really is no foundation. It should be fairly easy to remove the wall then.

Meanwhile the neighbors are building. Their foundation is already in place. Seems like everyone is starting but us. We are STILL waiting on our building permit. I am very tired of it 🙁

Off to work they go.

It was a really nice fall day and they enjoyed helping Chris.

This little busy builder had a blast.

5

He loved finding stones and all other kinds of random stuff that was burring in the ground.

Meanwhile the neighbors got their foundation. You can see the string we put up on our border where the kids jacket is hanging. It’s there so the workers don’t throw their trash on our land. Yes, that’s really a problem.

7

We might not have a house yet, let alone garage, but we DO have the sidewalk lowered so we can park on our land 😉

Sidewalk wall that needs to go. About 5 cm of the pole on the right are still on our land 🙁
