Handed the building application back in

Today we handed the building application back in.
ProHaus called the building permit office and had a nice little chat with them. Turns out none of the stuff they said was needed, some of it (like measuring out our neighbors land) we are not even allowed to do since it doesn’t belong to us.
The office worker apologized saying that considering what is currently going on with all the refuges they didn’t have much time and needed to make some time so they sent it back. Also she was on vacation. …………..
Either way ProHaus sent all the stuff back to us, it got here this morning, we signed it as Chris got back from work and handed it back in. I told the nice lady at the reception that we thought this way we would save some time since it would now be there the next morning instead of being stuck in the mail for a day or two.
She said she wasn’t sure if she was able to take it to the right office the next day, but she would try. Oh, by the way, the right office is right up the stairs…… UGH!!!
And the waiting continues.

Final blue prints arrived today.

So after we had to deal with the craziness of dark gray and light black yesterday, something nicer was found in our mailbox today.
We got the final blue prints for the house to look over.
Now we had to check if all the outlets, light switches, lamps, doors, windows, etc. were in the right spot.
Considering we spent hour and hours while we were at the building company discussing all of that, you would think that everything was correct.
It wasn’t.
Several outlets were in the wrong spot or forgotten all together. We even had a couple of lamps that didn’t have a light switch. But mostly it was all just minor stuff. There have been a couple of emails sent back and forth so we could figure some stuff out, but we should be done with that fairly soon and able to send it all back to ProHaus, signed and ready to be built for us 😀

Building application came back….

Ugh.

So the building application came back today. It took them several month to tell us the following:

  • We have to measure the height of our neighbors (!) lands in 3D
  • One page in our application was not needed. As in too much information. We are supposed to take it out and hand everything back in. (Apparently taking it out themselves or – gasp! – turning the page did not work for them).
  • Our house building company used light black and not dark gray (or the other way around, I keep forgetting) for drawing our houses walls.

I wish I was joking. I am not. I read their letter to us 3 times and still thought it was a joke, but sadly it’s not. However, I wouldn’t have believed it either, had someone told me.

So now we have to have everything redone, take it back in and wait again. But who cares? It’s not like we are paying rent or commitment interest every single month they make us wait, right? 🙂

Oh wait….. we are…. 🙁

Measuring

We are still waiting on our building permit. Yes. Still. I have no idea what in the world is taking them so long, but apparently something is.
So instead of freaking out about it we kept ourselves busy. Saturday was a really amazing day (for it being October and all), so I made a cake, grabbed our picnic blanket and the kids and some of their toys and off we were to our little piece of land. And because we are waiting for the building permit and have nothing else to do we thought it would be fun to measure out where the house and the patio is going to be.
Here’s the results.

House is everything in red, patio is blue (it is planned to be 4x4m but we can and probably will change that depending on what it will look like once the house is there).
