Reinforcement with ETICS

Today the reinforcement with ETICS got done. It’s very impressive how different the house looks now. It won’t stay like this (because it will be painted blue),  but it sure looks better than the dalmatian look it was sporting before.
Lavinia wanted to go to the construction site early today, right after Lillian got done with her homework. However, I had to finish some school work with Lillian after she was done and by the time we were ready to go it was almost time for her to go to her Taekwondo class, so I figured 5pm was good enough. Sadly, by the time we got there, they were already done. I should have listened to Lavinia. We missed the whole thing, but I guess I can’t always be around whenever they do something new. According to google it must have looked something like this:

Either way, here are some pictures of the house 🙂

Dry wall workers

On April 12th and 13th the dry wall workers were here, closing all the holes and dents in the walls. The inside of the house now looks crazy dotted. While we were checking out their work, the kids played in the yard. They made a “snail house” out of stuff they found around the construction site and collected some snails (one for each kid). It was pretty cute 😉
Sadly they all had to cry, because they couldn’t take the snails home 🙁 They now want to go to the construction site daily, not because of the house, but because they want to check up on their snails 😉
We also saw, that they had our outside paint delivered. I am so very excited to see the house get it’s final color and for the scaffolding to go away!

Living room spots

Chris built in the spots in our living room ceiling yesterday (April 9th). Obviously the actual spots themselves aren’t built in just yet (the guy smoothing the ceilings and walls would probably mess them up anyway) but all the electrical stuff, holes and all that are there. I have to say, I think he did a pretty good job.
Of course we were rather unprepared, as we always seem to be, but thanks to great neighbors who had no problem borrowing us either their tools or their time to help, Chris got it all done just in time for the workers to come in on Monday. They will get the ceilings and walls ready to be painted.

Enjoy the pictures of Chris working on our lights as well as the randomly thrown in pictures of our “Baustellenkinder” (construction site kids) as we call them. Which is code for “I really think I have to give them a bath tonight – AGAIN” 😉

Be- und Entlueftungsanlage

“Be- und Entlueftungsanlage” (air ventilation – not air conditioning, more like a thing that will give us fresh air) is here.
It’s getting kind of difficult to walk around in the house, it’s basically like a huge maze and you have to be careful where to step.
For the first time we kind of get a feeling of how high up the floor will really be. You can tell by the ends of the air ventilation that are kind of “sticking up”. This is how high up the floor will be in the end. Seems crazy.

Enjoy the pics!
