As the workers keep doing there thing, the house changes pretty much daily.
Here are some new impressions:

Kitchen is done.

Yes, it’s still blue 😉 It will probably stay blue till we move in because I feel like it is a smart idea to leave the protective layer on as long as possible.
But even if it’s still blue, it’s done! Yay! We now have a working kitchen. There were two small issues (two handles were missing and one side of the counter top was too small – both issues will be fixed soon) , but other than that everything went great. We could already cook if we want to but I haven’t been reading all the instructions yet so I am not sure just yet how everything works. The kids are very impressed and I just love the size of it. Finally room for the five of us to bake Christmas cookies 🙂 I also already built one of the chairs but didn’t have time for the other two. Soon though.

It’s late, so not a lot of text, just some first view kitchen pictures.
They will keep building tomorrow so more pictures then. PS: The kitchen is white, the blue is just plastic protection 😉

 

More progress and kitchen part 1

This past weekend, with the help of friends and neighbors, we started our hardwood floors. We got the entire downstairs as well as the upstairs walk in closet done which is think is pretty cool. Thanks again to all the helpers!

Yesterday (February 6th) our kitchen and walk in closet furniture was delivered and today it is being built. Sadly I can’t take any pictures of that right now, since my husband took both mine and his car key this morning leaving me stranded at our apartment 😉 But I will take some pictures tonight.

In the meantime here are the latest ones:

More and more things are getting done. Today the bathtub and shower in our bathroom got done. The guest bathroom is almost done and our kitchen and living room walls are turquoise. The turquoise kitchen walls might seem a lot, but remember that our kitchen is high gloss white and going all around both walls. This will result in barely any turquoise being visible.

We are making progress! Our painter is doing a fantastic job and is really making it look like a house we will be able to live in. Our tile guy is also working great and we finally have some floors. Lavinia was pretty disappointed when she saw the kitchen tiles though, saying “But mom! They are soooo dirty! Why did you pick out and order DIRTY tiles?” She was very upset, but as soon as I told her we could wash them and they would be clean when we move in she was all kinds of happy again.
The color paint arrived and the kids are amazed by all the colors that will go in their rooms. Lavinia picked purple & yellow, Lillian green & blue and Ryan blue. Some walls in the kitchen/living room area will be turquoise. Our painter said he was actually asked if he was currently painting a kindergarten 😉 – well, … something like that 😀

Cant wait to see all the walls being painted. I am also excited to see if our magnetic paint – which will arrive later today – will work.
